Inter Boys

Clare Secondary Schools’ Cross Country Championships Success for St. Joseph’s
St. Joseph’s students from 1st Year to 5th Year took part in the Clare Secondary Schools’ Cross Country Championships on Thursday November 27th. The event was held in the Lee’s Road Complex in Ennis.

Minor Girls
Our minor girls were first to run – Ciara Halpin, finishing in 5th position in the race, led her team to second place victory. The other team members were Kaylee Cahill, Caoimhe Kelly, Aisling Dooley, Dearbhla Craven, Leah Molloy and Nessa Flynn.

Minor Boys
Next team up were our minor boys – again a very successful second place victory. The team was led home by Cormac Murphy in 7th position, followed closely by Paddy Donnellan, Jonah Bartelink, William Corbett and Cillian Boorman.
Siobhan Lenihan had a great individual performance in the junior girls race, coming in 7th position, followed home by Grainne Lynch.
Stephen Donnellan finished the junior boys race in 9th position, followed very closely by Padraig Cahill and Keith Donnellan. This ensured a third place victory in the team event, the other team members being Ben Purcell, Colm McInerney, Brian McSweeney, Paul Kelleher and Ian O’Brien.
In the intermediate boys event, Sean Cahill ran a fantastic race to take 3rd place, followed by Sean Murphy, Feargal Kearney, Cathal Browne, David Meehan and Kevin McSweeney. These great performances from the boys led to a gold medal in the team event. The other intermediate boys running were Conor Murphy, Cian Keogh, John Duggan, Conor Tuohy, James McGrath and Ethan Nugent.
The final race of the day was the senior boys race – Pa Duggan (7th) and Evan McMahon (8th) put in great performances guaranteeing a fourth place finish for the team. The other members were Stephen Slattery, Nathan Fogarty-O’Neill and Paul Kelleher.
We are so proud of all of our athletes as their performances on the day led to St. Joseph’s winning the overall school’s trophy for the first time. Well done to all our runners!
